Maine explodes with color in the Fall– a painter’s dream! However the weather becomes unpredictable too; I had to go back to the location twice because it started raining the first day. The big trees in the foreground framed the picturesque village by the water.
Since I work in transparent layers, if I draw the shapes with a pencil, it shows through and destroys the abstract looks of the painting; that is why I mark big shapes with the brush instead, and then divide the bigger shapes into smaller, more defined shapes. The foliage of the trees were the first marks I made on the paper.
