The Frank Bette Center for the Arts Juried Plein Air Quick Draw Event was the first ever Quick Draw I participated in. My paintings usually take anywhere from eight to ten hours to complete; before I painted this watercolor, I did not think it was going to be possible for me to paint a watercolor in two hours. I focused on the essence of the scene. To make the challenge even harder, the painter painting beside me had a gigantic alarm clock set on his van so he would not exceed the time constraint! The clock rang five minutes before the deadline.

I was about to paint over it after the event, to add more details and more layers, however the freshness and immediacy of it appealed to me, and I left it the way it was.
